TEACHERS and students particularly those in the declared emergency zones such as Honiara are likely to face an uphill battle when classes commence this month.
That’s according to some teachers expressing their concern to Solomon Star last night.
It was understood that Honiara was declared an Emergency Zone by the Government in response to the threat by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Under the State of Emergency (SOE) it is clearly stipulated that social distancing must be practiced at all times.
One teacher who wished to speak on anonymity said this would be very tough for both students and teachers.
“Well, to start with social distancing required under the State of Emergency as a measure to prevent COVID-19 will certainly be a challenge because of the number of students in each class,” the teacher said.
In addition to that, the teacher expressed that school routines were already severely disrupted.
“It will take time for students to get back in the mood of schooling.
“It will certainly affect their learning especially in preparation for exams,” the teacher said.
There are no cases of the COVID-19 in Solomon Islands.
