THE much-anticipated soccer match return leg between the Arawa Soccer Team from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) in Papua New Guinea and the Munda-Noro Soccer Team is set to take place in Arawa in June, sparking excitement amongst football fans across the region.
The match, which follows a competitive first-leg encounter, is expected to draw a large crowd as both teams aim to assert their dominance on the field.
Football enthusiasts from both sides are eagerly awaiting the clash, which promises to be a thrilling battle between two strong teams.
The first leg, played in Noro last year, showcased high-quality football, with both teams displaying exceptional skills and determination.
Western Football Association (WFA) President John Smith Pitabelama confirmed this during an interview with the Star Sport yesterday.
WFA President Pitabelama said preparations are well underway to ensure the match runs smoothly with security and logistical arrangements being prioritised.

He said Arawa’s hosting of the return leg marks a significant occasion for the local sporting community, providing an opportunity for fans to rally behind their team on home soil.
“Team coaches and players have expressed their readiness for the showdown, with training sessions intensifying in the lead-up to the match.
“Supporters from both Munda Noro and Arawa are expected to turn up in large numbers, adding to the electrifying atmosphere of the game,’’ Pitabelama added.
Mr Pitabelama said one of their main focuses right now is to strengthen the football arrangement between PNG Football Federation and Western Football Association (WFA) under the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF).
“Strengthening our football bilateral between AROB, PNG, is one of our priorities for a better cause and development in football in Western Province.
“Will keep the spirit of football alive and developing our young football players to market standard is also one of the approaches we want to build,’’ he added.
