THE non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), Junior Ani presented his letter of credentials to the Acting Governor General Patterson Oti at Government House on Monday.
Ambassador Ani was recently appointed as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Marshall Islands to Solomon Islands, with residence in Suva, Fiji.
Acting Governor General Oti acknowledged the cordial bilateral, regional and multilateral relations enjoyed by Solomon Islands and the RMI over the years.
“Our common interests continue to strengthen the bonds between our two countries,” he stated.
The Acting Governor General emphasised that as part of the Pacific Family, Solomon Islands looks forward to collaborating closely with the RMI to enhance bilateral relations in areas of shared interest, such as environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, health, capacity building, fisheries, trade and the clearance of unexploded ordnance from World War II. These initiatives aim to foster a stronger partnership for the benefit of both nations.
Acting Governor General Oti expressed confidence that during the tenure of Ambassador Junior Ani, Solomon Islands and RMI will continue to cooperate meaningfully, pursuing shared interests to promote progress and prosperity for their two peoples.
In response, Ambassador Ani reaffirmed the RMI’s commitment to strengthening its close relationship with Solomon Islands and the broader Pacific region to advance shared values, goals, and priorities for a safe, free and prosperous Blue Pacific Continent.
