THE Republic of China/ Taiwan is encouraging the education of females by tilting the scale in favour of females in their scholarship selection for next year.
Out of more than 600 applicants for the 2015 Taiwanese Scholarship joint award, most of the recipients were females.
The recipient gets their scholarship award last week from the Taiwanese ambassador HE Victor Te-Sun Yu.
“There are seven female recipients and 4 males. This is the first time we decided to have more females on the scholarship because we see the need to educate more women,” Mr Sun Yu said.
The recipients are; Karen NALANGU, Cynthia SALEIROVIWANE, Michael Junior SIWAINAO, Peter MURO, Edward MALINA, Erica GAPIRONGO, Offeri Sonia SADE, Dianne SANDAKABATU, Glenn HARO, Moira MISIHANIA and Sally Elizabeth BASI
The recipients are leaving for Taiwan this week.
