The Government of the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan has released the first tranche of the 2016 ROC Support Constituency Development Fund totaling SBD$11.7 Million to 39 Constituencies which have submitted their acquittal reports on the final tranche of the same funding for 2015.
Taipei has also released the third tranche of the 2015 RSDF worth $400,000.00 to one Constituency and a sum of SBD$300,000.00 under the 2015 RSCDF to another Constituency after they successfully provided the acquittals for the previous tranches of payment under this funding scheme.
Taipei also released a funding of SBD$500,428.00 for the San Isidro Rural Training Centre at Aruligo on Guadalcanal, a funding totaling SBD$14,800,000.00 for Social Economic Development Projects for 37 Constituencies who have submitted their acquittals for previous funding provided under this arrangement and a funding support worth US$780,468,86 towards the first phase of Solomon Islands Exim Bank loan. The Solomon Islands Government obtained the loan for the payment of lost and damaged properties during the ethnic crisis.
The Ambassador of the Republic of China to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Victor Te-sun Yu handed the instruments for the release of these various funding to the Prime Minister, Hon Manasseh Sogavare yesterday afternoon.
His Excellency Te-sun Yu said these various funding support totaling SBD$27.2-Million have been transferred from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to the Central Bank of Solomon Islands.
The Prime Minister thanked the Republic of China for its continuing funding support towards Solomon Islands constituency development and other areas.
He said the Taiwan’s continued support for rural development is a manifestation of its commitment to improve the livelihood of Solomon Islanders.
The Prime Minister also assured Taiwan of Solomon Islands continued support for its ongoing pursuit United Nations membership.
