THE Solomon Island Karate Federation (SIKF) has recognised Ronnie Uatee as the National Head Coach for the Karate in Solomon Islands.
According to SIKF President, Rex Kenihiria Uatee was recognised as the national head coach because of his wealth of experienced with the sport.
Uatee also represented Solomon Islands in past international karate events.
“Thus he has fulfilled all the requirements and is in full compliance with SIKF’s selection policies and is a member in good standing with full rights,” Kenihiria said.
Uatee confirmed his appointment in an interview with SINIS Medi.
He however revealed that there are lots of areas that need attention in terms of preparations for the Pacific Games.
Uatee has hope that with the help of SINIS strength and conditioning coaches, preparations will go well for the Pacific Games.
“From my point of view, I see a lot of improvement with my athletes, even though we still need to improve on some basic things such as on stance, alibility, speed, timing, and kata.
“I thank our former coach and technical advisor Dr. Andy Roosen as well who brought karate level in this country to another level, as his coaching style is adopted to this day,” Uatee added.
