Solomon Islands long distance running athlete, Rosefelo Siosi is back on track after a week break due being sick during the Oceania Area Championship in Australia.
Last week Rosefelo confirmed he won’t be participating in the 2015 Oceania Area championship because he felt sick and had to be exempted from running.
He told Star Sports that the decision not to participate was issued by the doctor following a checkup.
However despite the restriction by the doctor Rosefelo opted to take part in the 5000m race where he finished third.
Rosefelo said the decision to compete despite being told not to by the doctor was due to criticisms from back home, saying he was wasting his time in Australia.
His participation is very important as it will shape him up in preparation for the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea in July.
He will spend one more week in training before returning.
Female long distance runner Sharon Firisua is also in Australia attending the pre-games training camp.
She won Gold in the women’s 5000m race and bronze in the steeple chase.
The duo are some of the very few athletes the country counts on to go for gold in the Pacific Games.
