Solomon Islands long distance runner, Rosifelo Siosi has set a new record in his timing with a new personal Best (PB) in the 5000 meter heat at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
His previous Pb was 16:14s in Cook Islands last year and 16:05 in the Oceania Championship this year.
He was dubbed a hero despite losing in the 5,000 meters race finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Rosefelo said if he had the chance of training in proper facilities such those used during their training in Stirling City
“I’m very happy that I set a new record for my timing, especially in one of the world’s biggest sports events like the Commonwealth Games.
“A big boost in my preparation towards this achievement came from the two weeks I spent at the pre-Games training camp in Stirling.
“I believe if I’m given the opportunity to train with such top facilities and environment, I can run 5000 in 14s,” he said.
He added Solomon Islands should quickly fulfill their dreams of having a standard running tracking so athletes can undergo proper training so they can compete well in the top level competitions.
The 5000m race title was won by a Kenyan, but Siosi had won the crowd.
