The Donations in Kind program, run by Rotary International Australia, provides humanitarian aid through the provision of donated goods. Rotary International Australia receives donated goods from hospitals, libraries, schools, Rotary Clubs and other groups, and then sorts, packs, and distributes them to countries in need.
On Saturday 3rd May 2014, the Rotary Club of Honiara distributed a variety of donated goods from Rotary International’s Donations in Kind program to those in need in the Solomon Islands.
Donated goods included school equipment such as toys, books, bookshelves, computers, student desks and chairs, teachers desks, as well as bed frames and mattresses, and medical supplies.
Some of the recipients of donated goods were St Nicholas School, Don Bosco School, Bethesda Disability Training and Support Centre, Nanala School Central Guadalcanal, the Good Samaritan Hospital at GPPOL, Vatualae Primary School South East Guadalcanal and Nalei Primary School Central Guadalcanal.
So far this year the Rotary Club of Honiara has distributed goods from three Donations in Kind containers dispatched by Rotary International Australia to the Solomon Islands.
The Rotary Club Of Honiara meets every week on Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Flamingo Room, Honiara Hotel. All are invited to attend our weekly meetings and be part of our family in building up our beloved Solomon Islands.
