The winners of the inaugural Solrais Women’s Premier League and championship, the RSIPF Royals were also awarded two individual awards at the awards night held recently in Honiara.
Police Constable (PC) Francina Mautai and Royals midfielder won the coveted player of the season award, a statement from Police Media Unit said.
Royals goalkeeper Margaret Kofela won the golden glove for conceding the fewest goals through the season, a mere seven goals.
PC Mautai remained humble after accepting her award, “I was not expecting this award. I want to thank the girls for the team spirit that we showed and we fought together for this win.”
RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau congratulated the officer for the recognition.
“I congratulate PC Mautai, Miss Kofela, and the rest of the Royals as role models for other young women in the community.
“I want to specially mention PC Mautai for showing great commitment and excellence on the pitch while still working to protect her community as a woman police constable,” said RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau.
