THE Solomon Islands national men’s Rugby 15s team departed yesterday for Papua New Guinea (PNG) the host country for the 2022 Oceania Rugby Championship.
The Oceania Rugby Championship will start today and will end on November 10th.
Solomon Islands will play host PNG on Sunday November 6th at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
Their second match will be on Thursday November 10th against Vanuatu.
The Oceania Rugby Men’s Championship, formerly known as the Oceania Cup is Oceania Rugby’s premier senior men’s XV’s rugby event and was established in 2007.
The Oceania Rugby Men’s Championship has served as a Rugby World Cup qualification tournament since 2009.
Papua New Guinea Puk Puks is the current defending champion after claiming the title during the 2019 Oceania Rugby Men’s Championship in Port Moresby.
