The Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) had last week rescheduled its proposed trials for this Saturday 10th of September with trial matches set to go ahead at 2:00pm at Panatina field on Saturday.
The trials will be used to pick a train on squad of 20 players which will be further trimmed to 12 later in the month, who will represent the country in the upcoming Oceania 7s tournament that will be played in Auckland in November.
The SIRUF executive along with the selection panel that they had appointed is calling on those who had been named for the trials to come up to Panatina field on Saturday and give it a go as the selectors would like to have a big pool of talents to pick from.
Those in the age range of 25 years and under are highly encouraged to join the trials as SIRUF will be looking to pick more young players to be part of this squad as this will not only be a squad that will represent Solomon Islands in the upcoming Oceania 7s tournament, but is part of the SIRUF’s preparatory strategy for next year’s regional tournaments, including the Oceania 7s, when Solomon Islands will compete for a spot in the Hong Kong 7s Championship in 2017.
