ON Wednesday this week, the rugby coaches and athletes were introduced to a Federation of International Touch (FIT) introductory’ course at the SINIS-high performance Centre in Honiara.
The course is facilitated by David Parker from FIT in Australia who is currently in the country to conduct this FIT Foundation Coaching Course.
According to SINIS media, the course started on Wednesday with 20 participants which is deemed a fantastic turn out.
A practical session for the FIT course will be held tomorrow as David Parker hopes to do some work with the ‘Touch Rugby’ National Team in the coming days.
“We have got about 20 participants here today which is a fantastic turnout, we will be doing some practical session tomorrow and hopefully doing some work with their national teams in the coming days,” Mr Parker said.
According to SINIS, an athlete development framework was introduced and discussed in the FIT course on Wednesday and it involves skills in the areas of ‘Movement, Ball, Roll-ball, Rocking, Attack, Defence, Game Concepts and Strategies and Athletic Performance.’
SINIS said a ‘Coaches Code of Behaviour’ was also introduced and discussed.
