A MAN on trial in Gizo, Western Province, for allegedly raping a girl at the Gizo hill top during the Arts Festival in 2012 will know his fate today.
This followed the closing submissions made before Justice Francis Mwanesalua in a High Court circuit sitting at Gizo Court.
The hearing started on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday.
Prosecution called three witnesses while the accused chose to remain silent.
Tetkou Piasi allegedly raped the alleged victim at the Gizo hill top on the evening of 6 July 2012.
The accused was 23 years of age at that time of the alleged offence while the alleged victim was 18.
They both knew each other.
The accused allegedly called out to the alleged victim when she came out of the JFK stadium to follow him up hill.
They reportedly walked up hill and the accused raped her inside a home of a man named Danny who at that time was not at home.
After allegedly raping her, the accused brought her back to where she resided.
The alleged victim told her aunty about the alleged incident and they went to the Gizo Police Station and reported the matter and statements were taken the following day.
Police later referred the alleged victim to the Gizo Hospital for medical check up.
Piasi is being represented by Benham Ifuto’o of Public Solicitor’s Office while Public Prosecutor Andrew Kelesi appeared for the State.
