South Vella La Vella constituency recorded the lowest number of candidates contesting in the Western Province for the upcoming national general election.
This was according to the list released by the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) over the weekend.
The constituency with the highest candidate is West New Georgia – Vona Vona Lagoon registering ten (10) candidates. Silas Tausinga is the outgoing MP for this constituency.
For the South Vella La Vella Alex Lionel is the outgoing Member of Parliament and he is being challenged by former Permanent Secretary of Mines and Energy Rence Sore and former Provincial Member of South Vella, ward 8, Christian Mesepitu.
Reports reaching the paper said the people in the constituency are preparing for the Election Day.
Last Thursday about 3,000 people within the constituency witnessed the launching campaign of Lional at Maravari Village.
With few more days to go before the polling day, intending candidates are hitting the campaign trail.
