The Premier of Guadalcanal Province Francis Sade has reiterated that the deal to supply books to schools has been canceled because the former education officer was the one involved in the deal .
Speaking to the paper yesterday Premier Sade said the fifty cents ($0.50) deal is unethical and stated he canceled the deal last year.
Premier Sade said the whole deal was orchestrated by none other but the former Chief of Education Officer (CEO) Gladall Sesehala to deceive him (premier) for his (CEO’s) own gain.
He asserted that although he did not sign the deal, he later cancelled it.
“I want to make it clear that I personally cancelled the deal last year” Premier Sade confirmed.
He also said that if anyone is interested, he or she can request NAYA Company Limited to provide details on whether he benefits from the deal or not.
Premier Sade furthers that the CEO might think the reason for his suspension is due to the cancellation.
However, the Premier stated that his suspension is due to other reasons that only the CEO himself know.
“The CEO knows very well why he is being suspended. However, he’s using the NAYA deal as a smokescreen to conceal the real reason for his suspension” Sade said.
Premier Sade reiterated that the issue is insignificant and said he has a province to take care of.
“The whole issue is insignificant, I will not waste my time to dwell on it. I have a province with more than 150,000 people to serve and protect.
“The Executive Government is doing its best to address and implement some of the long-standing issues of Guadalcanal.
“We have more work to do for our people. Therefore, such petty issue is the least of my priority,” he said.
Meanwhile, when Solomon Star contacted NAYA Company’s Human Resources Manager Rex Konofilia yesterday, he has confirmed Premier Sade has cancelled the deal after realizing the agreement will only benefit only few trustees of the province and not the whole province.
Solomon Star yesterday obtained a letter from Naya Company dated 3rd July 2020 regarding the “CANCELLATION OF MOU BETWEEN FRANCIS SADE AND YOUR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE ON THE COMMISSION FOR THE SALE OF EXERCISE BOOKS DATED 24TH JUNE 2020.
The letter quotes: “This letter serves to formally cancel the above mentioned MOU between Francis Sade and Representative of the Naya Co Ltd.
“I just realized that the content of the above MOU signed between me and your company representative for the commission for the sale of exercises books, is unethical and could amount to a breach of leadership of leadership code of conduct.
“I therefore wish to formally inform you that the MOU I signed is cancelled forthwith as of today’s date. Thank you for your understanding. Therefore, there shall be no commitments between the two parties whatsoever.”
