FAUMAMANU Community High School (FCHS) in East Kwara’ae, Malaita Province has been operating without any school grant this year 2014.
This was revealed by the School Principal Andrew Maefelo last Thursday.
He said that since the school commenced its academic classes early this year, they haven’t receive any single cents from the government.
“We are now nearing the end for this academic year but we have yet to receive any funding assistance.
“Such situation should not be tolerated.
“To run such a big school like this without any support from the responsible authorities or the government is very challenging and heart breaking,” he said.
He stated that only the primary level had received grant this year but not the secondary level.
“The resources that we use for the running of the school came from our own funds.
“This is a critical situation the school encountered and government needs to consider this in the future.”
Malaita Education Authority (MEA) officer Golman Holi confirmed that he has aware of the situation.
He explained the delay or non-payment of grant to the school this year was due to late retirement of report by the former principal and the failure to submit required documents to the office last year.
“We’ll inform the responsible Ministry of your situation so that if possible they may release your school grant soon,” he assured the school.
Mr Maefelo said it would be good if the grant is received before the academic year ends.
