SMASH Down Barriers (SDB) table tennis programme handed over table tennis training equipment to the Arnon Atomea School in North Malaita, Malaita Province.
The table tennis equipment includes rackets, nets, balls, score boards and a manual book.
SDB Country Coordinator Kevin Olea told Star Sport on Friday that the sets of table tennis equipment were handed to the school’s Sport Master James Moli earlier last week.
Olea said the equipment were provided to the school as SDB plans to roll out its activities in Malaita and Guadalcanal Provinces.
“Arnon Atomea School is the first school in Malaita to roll out the SDB programme and this will be followed by Belaha School in Guadalcanal. These two schools are the first recipient schools of the SDB programme for this year,” Mr Olea explained.
“As these two schools are ready to be introduced to table tennis, their respective sport master will attend a table tennis coaching training scheduled for 13 and 14 March in Honiara,” he added.
Arnon Atomea School Sport Master Moli, upon receiving the equipment, thanked the SDB for donating them.
He said the equipment will keep students engaged in table tennis, a new sport for the school.
