The senior Kurukuru futsal team and the national U17 futsal squad will meet again this afternoon for their secondly friendly match as part of their build up to the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games and OFC U17 championship respectively.
In their first friendly match Kurukuru beat the young lads 4-2 in a stunning showdown.
Today’s encounter is anticipated to be tough since both teams already met last week and knew what they should expect from the second clash.
President of the Solomon Islands Sports Coalition (SISC) Pr Nacanieli Seru said during their first friendly both teams only played 10 minutes aside which is not enough since both teams are working on their final selection.
“So on Thursday (today) both teams will meet again for their second friendly match as part of their preparation to represent the country in the respective competitions they will attend.”
He said it is good for all the players to have a good run in the friendly match so that coaches can see how their players perform in order select their final squads.
“Giving our players enough time on the court should give our coaches the chance to select their best players,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the president is also appealing to all futsal fans and supporters to come out in numbers to support both teams.
Entrance fees from today’s friendly will help support both teams in their preparation.
