THE recent security deal signed by the governments of Solomon Islands and China might backfire and create an internal division within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), it was revealed.
While the DCGA government thinks it has provided all that the country needs when it comes to the country’s so-called internal security by getting assistance from China, inside sources have revealed that the move is not going down well with some elite RSIPF officers.
Lately, a group of RSIPF were sent on a six weeks training in Australia to learn about Law Enforcement Trauma Training and theory on Active Armed Offender responses designed to save lives in mass victim scenarios.
The training was also inclusive of practical exercises; applying first aid to major bleeding and creating airways both critical to saving lives.
According to RSIPF Media, the officers were trained by the AFP Operational Safety Trainers (OST) in one of the modern firearms training facilities in the Asia Pacific region.
“The training they are going to receive is world class and will enable them to return to Solomon Islands and deliver their own sustainable training for the RSIPF.”
An inside source revealed that the local RSIPF team that trained in Australia recently should take charge of the training when returning home.
However, when the team returned from Australia, PRC conducted similar training for the RSIPF, instead of allowing locals who went to Australia to train RSIPF officers.
The source also revealed that members of the RSIPF were not happy about the leaked security deal that the DCGA government wishes to enter with the PRC.
It was revealed that the PRC training of RSIPF is more to show off the relationship between DCGA and China and not the other way around.
Insiders further revealed that members of the RSIPF were not happy about the DCGA’s decision to bring back PNG forces as this attitude continues to weaken RSIPF and make locals think less of RSIPF.
Among other issues that angered members of RSIPF is the idea of building a China Military base in the country and the extension of parliament for five years.
The source further revealed that there is already a division within the RSIPF where they predicted that the division will soon erupt and get out of control if it is not solved internally.
Insiders also publicized that the current Police Commissioner is incapable of leading RSIPF and the more he remains in office, the trust between public and RSIPF will continue to nose dive which is not good for RSIPF reputation.
The insiders exposed that the current Police Commissioner is not being neutral when it comes to arresting and investigating crimes that are before police, an attitude they described as playing with fire.
