A SEMINAR for teenage girls will be conducted next week at Maranatha Centre, east Honiara.
The Adventist Women’s department of SDA, Solomon Islands Mission, is organising this program which will run for two days.
Director of Adventist Women department Beverly Maega will be facilitating the seminar along with other mentors.
She said their goal is to help young girls see themselves as God sees them.
“Not as society does and to love and respect themselves. If we don’t love and respect ourselves, we cannot love and respect others,” she explained.
She said the media and society make us believe that the way we look (slim, dressed according to the latest fashion and expensive make-ups) make us beautiful.
She also highlighted that in today’s society girls and boys are bullied by others because they aren’t exactly like the bullies.
“Many girls feel they have to do what these so-called friends want them to do in order to be called friends by them,” Mrs Maega said.
“We teach them what a friend really is and how they can recognise someone as a potential friend as well as being a real friend to another person.”
The seminar will be held from April 4 to 5.
