SENTENCING submissions on the case of the man who raped a disabled girl at Rannogga Island in Western Province will be made in the High Court, today.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the now 21-year-old girl, has been found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial in Gizo.
The submissions today will be made before Justice Stephen Pallaras at 9am.
The accused was related to the complainant/victim and are both living in the same village in Rannogga.
The incidents occurred in 2010 and 2011 at night in the complainant’s bedroom at her parent’s house.
During the incidents, the accused covered the complainant’s mouth when she tried to shout out for help and forced to have sex with her.
The accused is being represented by Benham Ifuto’o of Public Solicitor’s Office, while Crown Prosecutor Andrew Kelesi appeared for the state.
