A workshop on sexual and reproductive health programme in crisis and post–crisis situation has kicked off on Wednesday at the Solomon Islands Plan Parenthood Association (SIPPA) in Honiara.
The three days’ workshop which was organized by SPRINT is aimed at educating important stake holders about key areas that need to be addressed with regards to sexual and reproductive health where Solomon Islands is also identified as one of the countries that need such programme.
According to SPRINT regional officer Ben Angoa, workshop will go through with the participants what is known as Minimal Initial Service Package (MISP) for productive health.
Mr. Angoa said MISP has a goal and five objectives.
The goal is to decrease mortality, morbidity and disability in crisis affected populations.
While the objectives of MISP are; to make sure heath sector identify agency to help implement MISP, to prevent sexual violence and assist survivors, to reduce the transmission of HIV, to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity and not to mention plan for comprehensive services integrated into primary health care.
The three days’ workshop will end today.
