NEWLY elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Shortland Islands Constituency says once he settles into office, he will pursue a number of development projects desired by his constituents.
Isikeli Vave made the assurance in a statement he issued to his constituents last week after being elected into Parliament.
He ousted his uncle Christopher Laore in a close race.
Laore, who became a member of OUR Party after being re-elected in the 2019 National General Election, served two parliamentary terms.
Vave contested as an Independent Candidate and during the government formation lobbying period, decided to join OUR Party.
During his campaign, he vowed to bring about change in his constituency.
“As I promised during my campaign, my focus will be on improving infrastructure, implementing effective political programs, supporting entrepreneurship, enhancing education and ensuring the wellbeing of our community,” he said in the statement.
He assured his people that he would do his best to fulfill their wishes.
“Rest assured, I am committed to fulfilling the outlined objectives in a manner consistent with the expectations and aspirations of our constituents in Shortland Islands.
“Having established a foothold within this favourable party, the decision-making process is poised to accelerate, thereby facilitate more efficient fulfillment of your needs,” he added in the statement.
Vave also highlighted that respecting cultural heritage is incredibly important to him.
“And I pledge to govern with the utmost respect for our traditions,” he said.
He pleaded to his people that as their leader now, their support is very important to achieve the desired change.
“I sincerely ask for your continued support as we embark on this journey together. With unity and determination, I am confident that we can achieve positive change and prosperity for all.”
Meanwhile, it was reported that most of the constituents and people of Shortlands are unhappy with political commentator Moffat Konofilia over his disrespectful words to their MP Vave because he also voted for Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele.
Konofilia last week made vulgar statements at all MPs who voted Manele as the new PM.
