SOLOMON Islands total number of COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 16,441 after it recorded another 560 new cases in the past four days.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) permanent secretary Pauline McNeil said of the 560 new COVID cases, 366 are recorded in Honiara.
Other cases are from Malaita 158, Choiseul Province 30 and Temotu Province 2.
No updates were received from the other provinces.
However, Mrs McNeil said second wave of COVID-19 infections has started in Malaita Province and while Western Province has seen an increase in the number of cases, the ministry is yet to receive a report from them.
The country’s total death count now stands at 244.
Meanwhile, the permanent secretary said many response activities are continuing such as decontamination, swabbing and risks communication activities.
