The Divine Word University (DWU) auditorium on Saturday night in Madang Campus came alive during the SI night cultural show.
Students and the public turned out in numbers to enjoy the international flavour of varieties of cultural dance from various provinces in SI.
The stadium was on rapture as SI students performed the famous panpipe on Are’are style, and other dances from central, Rennel Bellona, Reef Islands, Tikopia, Isabel, Malaita and also dramatizing Guadalcanal chupu ceremony.
Solomon Islands Student Association President John Iro said, PNG and Bougainville students joined SI students for dance upholds the true Melanesian spirit and solidarity.
The leading newspaper in PNG, the Post-Courier and the National were present for coverage.
Number of students interviewed have expressed Solomon Islands cultural dances is extremely unique and DWU is fortunate to have SI students to study here.
The programme started at 7pm with the National Anthem and a brief presentation of Solomon Islands provinces with its cultural biodiversity.
DWU students band the ‘HOOORAAY Boys’ came in intervals, highlight the night on featuring Solomon Islands with the song ‘ Honiara em colourful’.
President Iro has acknowledged the Divine Word University and other stakeholders for the successful of the night.
He also commended DWU to allow the auditorium.
