SOLOMON Islands Men’s Beach Volleyball Team have been invited by the Asia Volleyball Confederation (AVC) to participate in the AVC Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Semi-Final and Final qualifier for Olympic Games.
This prestigious event will take place in Ningbo Xiangshan in China from June 21 to 23.
This opportunity arose as the Solomon Islands National Beach Volleyball team accumulated enough points within Oceania to qualify for this significant final competition, which serves as an Olympic qualifier.
This invitation marks a significant milestone for Solomon Islands Beach Volleyball. It is the result of tremendous efforts by the players, coaches, team management, and the support of the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation.
Solomon Islands Government through the National Olympic Committee Solomon Islands (NOCSI), National Sports Council (NSC), Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS), the Games Organizing Committee (GOC), the National Hosting Authority (NHA) and numerous sponsors have made significant contributions towards the development of the sport over the years.
The team’s outstanding performance in the recent Pacific Games, along with excellent performances in Australia and Vanuatu in the last two years showcased their skills and dedication and led to this remarkable opportunity.
SIVF President Morris Maitaki expressed his pleasure with this opportunity and is looking forward to sending a six-man team to participate in the event.
He said SIVF is currently coordinating with relevant sporting authorities to facilitate the team’s training and sponsorship to enabling the team to participate.
Mr Maitaki encouraged all stakeholders to rally support and stand behind the team as they prepare to represent the Solomon Islands on the world stage.
