Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SICCI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) had a fruitful discussion with the Melanesia Spearhead Group (MSG) Director General (DG).
This was during a courtesy visit to DG Leonard Louma [OBE] during his recent trip to Port Vila, Vanuatu.
James Dolarii took the opportunity to discuss with Mr. Louma about the private sector environment in Solomon Islands and how MSG can bring together chambers across Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and Solomon Islands.
Mr. Dolarii also brought to the attention of Mr. Louma how MSG can support private sectors in member countries.
“One of the subjects that was discussed is looking at how member countries can maximise the Melanesia Trade Arrangements to leverage trade activities within Melanesian countries.
“I also put forward a proposal for the MSG to organise a MSG Business Forum and Investment to give private sector in member countries the opportunity to network, discuss and share ideas,” he said.
Mr. Dolarii added that Solomon hosts a good number of businesses from the MSG member countries Fiji, PNG and Vanuatu and they have been active members of SICCI.
And also Solomon Islands businesses are engaging in commercial activities with other member countries.
Building a strong pacific community of businesses regionally and going globally is important to drive private sector activities and create employment.
He conveyed the appreciation from SICCI Board and Private Sector of Solomon Islands for MSG’s efforts towards private sector development in member countries and look forward to working close with MSG Secretariat to drive and implement some private sector initiatives together.
Director General highly appreciate SICCI’s visit saying that the visit encourages the secretariate to look at ways to support private sector in member countries.
