Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry [SICCI] is seeking fair treatment to all businesses operating in the country.
As the peak institution looking after 90 percent of Solomon Islands Private Sector, SICCI emphasized that growing the private sector means providing a level playing field for all players in the private sector.
It is crucial for the Solomon Islands Government to ensure that the private sector environment operates in fair competitive environment – it is healthy for a strong performing private sector.
SICCI emphasized that fair competition is healthy and good for business growth and expansion in Solomon Islands.
The CBSI Annual report 2023, highlighted though the economy anticipated a growth outlook, the state of the economy remains fragile and susceptible to internal and external shocks.
Hence the need to have policy framework that promote a level platform for businesses is critical for the growth and expansion of the private sector.
SICCI added it would like to see incentives available within the country’s jurisdiction to support businesses, are distributed without prejudice but are impartial among businesses, with the bigger objective of strengthening, growing and expanding Solomon Islands private sector.
The private sector experiences a huge loss to business during the COVID and riot, as well loss of revenue to the Solomon Islands Government.
SICCI believes that building on the theme of collaboration and growth, we can strengthen the growth of the private sector.

“Fairness in the business environment isn’t just a concept—it’s a necessity that must be upheld through robust policy frameworks.
“We need to ensure that our policies serve as the bedrock for every player in the private sector, allowing everyone to thrive as we strive to improve and grow the private sector. A good starting point? Let’s reform our tax system to ensure fairness for both foreign and local businesses. After all, a level playing field is more enjoyable when everyone has the same chance to dodge the hurdles!
