THE Solomon Islands Council of Trade Unions (SICTU) has announced that following a productive meeting with the Prime Minister, it will be embarking on a series of follow-up discussions with key Cabinet Ministers and officials to address important matters concerning public and private sector workers’ work conditions and welfare.
SICTU said the series of discussions will begin with the Deputy Prime Minister and then on to the Minister of Public Service, Minister of Health and Medical Services, Minister of Education and Human Resource Development and Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services.
It said the discussions will focus on the welfare of public officers and the improvement of respective ministerial schemes of services for public servants.
SICTU said a special consultation will be held with the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration to address labour issues and related welfare issues affecting private sector workers across all industries.
It said this dialogue will aim to ensure that the rights and welfare of private sector employees are protected and upheld.
SICTU said it is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of all workers in Solomon Islands and it looks forward to constructive engagements with government officials to achieve positive outcomes for its members and the labour force as a whole.
