THE Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) has announced a new project for Aligegeo following the successful completion of the Aligegeo Sports Facility refurbishment project.
Speaking at the official opening and handing over of the refurbished facility on Thursday, SIFF President Donald Marahare announced that the next project for Aligegeo is redoing of the sports field and completion of the perimeter fencing around the facility.
Mr Marahare said the project is part of SIFF’s strategic plan 2023-2026 and the new project for Aligegeo will start soon.
He promised that the project will be delivered on time to serve its purpose of hosting sports competitions and other related events.
The SIFF President then called on Malaita Football Association (MFA) and the Malaita Provincial Government to support the project to ensure it is successfully delivered.
“Going forwards, SIFF is planning to re-do the field and complete the perimeter fencing as part of a new project here at Aligegeo.
“SIFF will continue to liaise with and work together with the Malaita Football Association and the Malaita Provincial Government to ensure that the new project kicks off and is delivered in a timely manner.”
“This new project is in line with the federation’s strategic Plan 2023-2026 for the implementation of infrastructure projects at the national and provincial levels to enable the successful hosting of competitions and other related events.”
Mr Marahare added, “I therefore call on the administration of MFA as well as the Malaita Provincial Government to continue to provide unwavering support in ensuring that the new project is delivered.”
“The key priority issue in this regard, is to address once and for all the uncertainty surrounding the ownership of the land that currently accommodates these facilities that we have seen this morning.
“I beg for the untiring support of the Malaita Provincial Government and other impotent stakeholders to see to it that the issue of land ownership is addressed amicably as soon as practicable.
“I would like to state for the record SIFF’s ongoing commitment to undertake similar projects in other parts of this country that meet FIFA’s requirement in terms of land ownership,” he further added.
