THE Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) has paid tribute to one of the young aspiring footballers, former national U17 player Christ Satu who passed away in Honiara over the weekend following a short illness.
In a statement, SIFF said: “On behalf of the president of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF), Provincial member associations, the CEO, staff, players, clubs, supporters and sponsors, we convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Solomon Warriors FC and the Satu family following the unfortunate passing away of former Solomon Warriors and National U-17 player Chris Satu at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara after battling illness.
“We especially extend our condolences to the immediate family.
“This is our collective loss, we mourn with you, and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” according to a statement from SIFF.
SIFF further described this as a sad loss, not only for the immediate family but for the entirety of the Solomon football fraternity.
Chris played a key role in the U-17 national team who created history on home soil in 2018 to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The talented winger played club football for Western United, Solomon Warriors, and Indo-Solo futsal club.
