Malaita Province Deputy Premier Randoll Sifoni is expected to receive his marching orders any time this week.
Sources within the MARA government confirmed this to Solomon Star Auki over the weekend stating Mr Sifoni will receive his marching orders after going against MARA principles.
Lately Premier Daniel Suidani and his Deputy who is currently the caretaker Premier have issued conflicting statements to the public.
Take for instance, Premier Suidani has assured the rest of Malaita in his provincial wide address that the Auki Communique will not be amended, whereas his Deputy told the people of Ward 30 his speech that the Auki Communique needs amendment.
Not only that, but a statement issued by the Deputy Premier regarding the petition by Honiara based Malaitans was also rubbished by Premier Suidani in an issued statement stating what Sifoni said is not the view of MARA government, but his own view.
Information reaching this paper also claimed that the Deputy Premier has refused to play a pre-recorded speech by Premier Suidani in his ward during the Malaita Second Appointed celebration, an action that raised more questions than answers.
Inside sources stated that the Finance Minister Nelson Lenty will most likely be the new acting Premier for Malaita Province in the absence of Premier Suidani.
The latest behaviour by the Deputy Premier has shocked the MARA executive with sources saying the move by the deputy premier is untimely and a real betrayal to the solidarity in the MARA government.
Meanwhile, the message of the rift between Premier Suidani and Deputy Sifoni is yet to sink well with the Malaita public as a peaceful protest is expected this morning in Auki.
This paper was informed that the protest is to demand the deputy premier to step down immediately and allow a new caretaker Premier to take his place.
A spokesperson for the protest today said they support the MARA government’s stand and said they keep an open eye for MPAs who wish to split MARA government solidarity.
Premier Sifoni could not be reached for comments on Sunday.
