The Solomon Islands Government (SIG) is proud to support hosting the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) 2025 in Honiara.
The Government is the event’s Platinum Sponsor of SB$2 million to support bringing the event for the first time in Solomon Islands this year.
Early this week, Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele said the government is proud to support this event, as it aligns with ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, youth empowerment, and the protection of culture and the environment.
“Our people take great pride in our heritage, our traditions, and our land. As we welcome all of you to our shores, we celebrate our Pacific connections, knowing that we are bound together by shared values, mutual respect, care for our environment, and the importance of family and community,” Manele said.
The Miss Pacific Islands Pageant is not just a celebration of beauty and talent. It is an opportunity to elevate the voices of young and talented women from across our Pacific islands.
It is a platform that acknowledges what Pacific women bring to our communities, countries, and the region.
The Pacific region currently faces many challenges including climate change, environmental degradation, social inequality, health issues, and economic instability amongst others.
“These challenges are not confined to any one country. They are shared by all of us,” Manele said.
He added that it is through events such as the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant that we can unite our voices, raise awareness, and advocate for solutions that benefit all of us.
The young women who participate in this pageant possess the power to be leaders in our countries and our region.
“You represent a new generation of young leaders who are strong advocates for climate action, champions for social justice, and voices for sustainable development,” Manele said.
Manele further urged the contestants to use this unique opportunity as a platform to address the issues that matter most to our communities.
The Pacific is home to some of the most vulnerable nations when it comes to the effects of climate change—rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and the loss of biodiversity that threaten our way of life.
By contesting in the Pacific Islands Pageant 2025, each contestant has chosen a path to be champions and advocates to unite the region to face the many challenges affecting the region.
