Leader of the Parliamentary Independent Group Dr Derek Sikua says the Bills and Legislation Committee (BLC) expects the Anti-Corruption Bill to come before them this week.
He said since the Bill was withdrawn from parliament by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, the BLC expects the Bill to come before the committee anytime this week before it goes to Parliament once meeting resumes next week.
DrSikuasaid the Anti-Corruption Bill (ACB), must be given the appropriate treatment and expresses hope that it comes this week before the BLC for scrutiny.
Dr Sikua is also a member of BLC.
In his concluding statement to adjourn parliament yesterday, the Prime Minister said the Billhad gone through Caucus and Cabinet and indicated that it is one of the Bills that the government will bring to Parliament.
Out of all the Bills that are ready to go for passage by the legislators, the ACB is the only Bill the citizens of this country are looking forward for its passage.
The Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) are taking the lead on behalf of the people, to ensure the Prime Minister tables the Bill and that all MPs vote in support of it.
