The recent visit by a high level delegation to Singapore recently has described the trip as ‘very worthwhile.’
The purpose of the trip by the Government delegation was to learn about the comprehensive reforms being undertaken at the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA)
Upon the delegation’s arrival back in Honiara on Monday, the Minister for Infrastructure Development Stanley Sofu who headed the delegation acknowledged the trip.
“I am pleased to announce that our week-long visit to Singapore at the invitation of the Solomon Islands Ports Authority to learn about reforms being undertaken by International Business Dynamics has been a worthwhile undertaking.
“We are very pleased with the detailed presentations provided by the International Business Dynamics consultants. We are also pleased with the progress made so far in reforming this state-owned enterprise,” Mr Sofu said.
“During our visit, we were also taken on tours to successful business enterprises in Singapore. These tours were also very informative in that we were given presentations about their success stories and opportunities to ask questions.”
The Minister said, he will make a presentation about the Singapore trip to Caucus next week along with recommendations about what further reforms Solomon Islands needs to ensure economic success.
He said Singapore is an island nation with a stunning economic growth rate due to its government’s strong emphasis on economic growth and support for business entrepreneurship.
