THE Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports (SINIS) on Tuesday started its first series of Sport Specific Foundation Coach Courses in Honiara.
SINIS said courses began with taekwondo with support from its national federation with introduction to topics on basic methods of teaching, coaching and playing the combat sport with enthusiasm and confidence in a safe, fun and engaging way.
It said this is a level entry delivered by the High Performance Coach Developers and Sport Specific Coaches.
Participants were taught the coach’s roles and responsibilities, the code of conduct, safety, risk management and sports pathways to development.
SINIS said coach practices on coaching styles, communication, feedback and review were also presented during the course.
It said practical and theory sessions were also held and will continue on Friday 9th September.
