THE Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Council is expected to receive a petition this week in relation to allegations raised against the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ganeshwar Chand.
That’s according to SINU insiders.
The petition will demand the council to investigate the allegations which staff has raised in relation to how the vice-chancellor runs the university.
Allegations include nepotism and issues surrounding recruitment.
Insiders also told the Solomon Star the Office of Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) will soon summon the responsible people within VC’s office.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chand, on Monday warned the Solomon Star not to publish any further news regarding the allegations which first surfaced in the paper two weeks ago.
In the “Notice to Cease & Desist, Retract and Publish Apology”, SINU’s executive assistant legal/HR Edward Biku said he will sue the Solomon Star if it continues to publish stories regarding the allegations.
The Solomon Star has given Dr. Chand the opportunity to respond to the allegations but he has not done so.
Instead, he has instructed Biku to warn the paper of a lawsuit.
