THE resumption of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) lectures will depend entirely on the Prime Minister’s statement today regarding all schools in the country.
In a statement issued to staff & students yesterday, SINU was supposed to resume lectures by May 4th, 2020 but will also depend on the government statement given the period of emergency has been extended for the next four months.
This paper understands the government statement today will pronounce the resumption of all schools.
“SINU Management awaits an official statement from the government regarding the resumption of all schools which is expected to be delivered this Friday (today) by the prime minister,” it was stated.
Meanwhile, SINU management will meet next week to decide on the date of resumption per the government’s statement.
SINU has been on closer since 30th March of 2020 as part of its response to the State of Public Emergency announced by the government as it tries to avoid the COVID -19 to enter the Solomon Islands.
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education and Human resource Dr. Franco Rodie when contacted yesterday also said his ministry will inform education authorities and schools of its decision by Friday.
