MORE than 20 Solomon Islands National University (SINU) graduating students who are yet to settle their fee arrears with the university have begged for another chance to settle theirs today.
This came after they have turned back at the SINU’s finance division after trying to settle their fees yesterday later afternoon but the office was closed.
Speaking on behalf of the group Zebilon Kalioe said, that they begged that if SINU could give them another chance today to settle their out standings before graduating tomorrow.
“We rushed in after 5pm to settle our arrears but the office had already closed.”
Mr Kalioe in an appeal to the finance department said, “please SINU give us another chance to settle our fees.”
But a statement from the SINU finance department yesterday revealed that a limited chance would be given today for students to settle their fees.
However, it has revealed that this year students with fee arrears will not be graduating anymore unlike before where students in such cases can graduate but cannot receive their certificates.
This is a new rule approved by the university this year.
