THE Newly elected Solomon Islands National University Students Association (SINUSA) is confident in leading the association to ensure required services are offered to students by the university.
When briefing this paper last week, the SINUSA newly elected president Larry Viravira said his team is looking forward to work hand in hand with the students to achieve their common goals that stated in their constitution that is to promote activities beneficial to the university and members of the association.
“To the SINU management we are looking forward as a student’s body to work towards the SINU strategic plan when taking up our term in the office,” he said.
SINUSA Student rep, Ramcey Olisukulu said their team is willing to work with the SINU management team and council to build characters and changing the attitudes of students, change their mentality to think as university scholars and know their purpose and what they are there for.
“As a body representing the students, we will work to ensure to strike a balance between the management and students as the customers of the university to ensure services are offered to students by the university are of quality that match up with the other universities in the region,” he said.
However, he said providing the services students themselves have to make use of the opportunity when enrolling at SINU so whatever they learn there will equip them for their future endeavours.
“Our committee will be committed to address issues that will affect students academically, socially, physically and even spiritually.
“However, students themselves have to make use of those opportunities.”
He said though leadership is always a challenge especially in the university level where they will be looking after more than 8000 students, his team is hoping to come into good form with the combination and fair representative of all faculties within the university as they’re prepare for it.
The newly elected president has acknowledged the former SINUSA executive for their past leadership as they are now preparing to carry out the task.
