SOLOMON Islands striker Jaygray Sipakana will not be part of the Telekom S-league’s champion, Solomon Warriors FC’s line-up for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.
This was recently confirmed by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF).
Sipakana was set to be included in Solomon Warriors line-up for the OFC Champions League.
However shortly the announcement of his inclusion, it was confirmed that Sipakana could not be part of the team due to the delay in registering him during the FIFA international window.
“Sipakana is not eligible to join Warriors for the OFC Champions League tournament because he was not registered during the recent FIFA Transfer Window which closed on February 8th,” according to SIFF.
This is a blow to Solomon Warriors who were looking forward to having Sipakana in their squad to boost their striking force.
Sipakana’s denial and the fact that the FIFA window is closed means Warriors will not be able to bring in reinforcements for their squad for the OFC Champions League.
Despite of that, Coach Franco Ne’e has full confidence in the current Warriors squad.
The current Warriors team comprises of a mixture of both new and old players.
Meanwhile Sipakana can join Warriors for the new Telekom S-League season.
Warriors will have to wait for the Solomon Islands transfer window to open to add him to the squad.
