THE Solomon Island Red Cross Society (SIRCS) has come to the aid of families whose homes were recently damaged by fire.
On Friday last week, the SIRCS Auki and Western branches have responded to fire incidents that occurred in Malaita and the Western Province.
A family of six people at Damascus village in East Kwaio, Malaita Province, lost all their belongings as their home was damaged by fire and the SIRCS through the Auki Branch responded by giving the family the support needed.
This included non-food items such as shelter tool kits, blackest, bed nets, buckets, kitchen sets and hygiene kits.
Also last week, the SIRCS Western Province Branch gave a support of non-food items to a couple whose two-bed room semi-permanent dwelling house was totally destroyed by fire at Kongulavata village in Gizo.
Solomon Star understands that the SIRCS has helped a lot of people in times of disaster.
