Building on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last month by Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) and Solomon Airlines, teams from both parties have held their first official meeting recently.
Key points addressed included the various ways both organisations can dovetail resources in order to promote increased tourist traffic to the destination.
As part of the agreement the airline has agreed to provide the national tourist office with a raft of support.
This includes joint participation in overseas overseas travel shows, support with industry and media familiaristions and other international promotional opportunities.
SIVB CEO, Josefa Tuamoto said the agreement fully underlined the commitment and vision both parties share in promoting and developing tourism for the Solomon Islands.
“Speaking on behalf of both parties, we are extremely pleased to be working hand in glove and sharing resources together,” Mr Tuamoto said.
“This first meeting is a small but very positive beginning but going forward, one we know will play a major role in our joint aspirations to see the tourism sector become the prime source so foreign exchange earnings within the next 10 years,” he said.
