The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) will celebrate its 10th anniversary next week.
A statement from the association said, this will coincide with the bi-monthly SIWIBA Mere’s Market for the month of February.
To celebrate the 10 years journey, the SIWIBA Secretariat has arranged an extra two days for Mere’s Market, which starts next week Monday 23rd February 2015 and all activities continue until Friday 27th February 2015.
Celebration for the 10th anniversary will take place Wednesday 25th February 2015 and a parade through Honiara town will be staged in the morning from Honiara Central Market to the Art Gallery grounds.
Set on the theme “Strengthening Women Through Business”, the official program will include keynote address from the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Andrew Byrne, SIWIBA history flashback, website launch and lots of entertainment surrounded with colourful stall displays at the Art Gallery grounds.
The website launch set to coincide with 10th anniversary celebration signifies the progress of an association with a humble start. Sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency – JICA in Honiara, the website will be launched by a representative of the office.
SIWIBA President, Dalcy Tekulu explained that the deferred celebration was to take place on its original month of December 2014 but had to be moved as it clashed with election dates. Proudly Supported By:
“Bad weather disrupted plans for last month, January so we had no choice but to postpone all activities, and we’re hoping for fine weather this time around,” she added.
Mrs. Tekulu highlighted that the 10th anniversary is big achievement for SIWIBA and it is only proper that all activities including Mere’s Market links with the celebration.
