WOMEN in business from all sectors will be coming together tonight for an evening of celebration to recognize the valuable contribution that women make towards the economic life of this country.
Solomon Islands Women in Business Association in partnership with the Government will host the event at the Heritage Park Hotel.
A statement from the SIWIBA office said that the Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) will organize the first ever Women in Business Awards on Saturday in Honiara.
Key speakers for tonight will include the Honorable Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Andrew Byrne and guest speaker, Ms. Sarah Haoda Todd who is a successful business woman from Papua New Guinea and 2011 Westpac Business Woman of the Year, PNG recipient.
“This event is about our financial members, it is not about the Board or the Secretariat staff.
“It is best to clarify to the public that the Board and Secretariat staff has no part in nomination or to be nominated, as we want this first time experience to highlight our financial members,” the statement added.
It said that the Awards Committee has two neutral volunteers, Mr. James Dolarii and Ms. Kim Abbey to ensure there is neutrality in the process of nominations and selection with the judges.
Selection of judges is done under the decision of the Awards & Nominations Officer, the statement said.
The Judges Panel comprises of representatives with broad expertise and experience from the public, private and diplomatic bodies, and also professionals in respective economic sectors, from rural to nationals.
SIWIBA believes it is going to be an exciting night for women who will be participated in the event.
