A NEW chapter has unfolded in Solomon lslands football arena as six of the country’s young footballers have secured moves to play for clubs in Australia’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) for the 2025/2026 season.
This marks a crucial step forward for the development of the sport in the country and highlights the growing influence of Pacific Island players on Australian football.
The six Solomon Islands national footballers, who recently secured moves to the Australia’s National Premier League (NPL), are Raphael Le’ai, Rovu Boyers, Javin Wae, Micah Lea’alafa, William Komasi and Junior David.
Three of the six are international players and they are Le’ai, Boyers and Wae. Le’ai, who previously played for Adelaide City FC, has signed up with Wollongong Wolves FC, while Boyers has signed up with West Adelaide SC. National Team defender Wae has signed up with Campbelltown City SC.
Meanwhile, Lea’alafa, who has spent the last two seasons with FK Beograd, will now play for Adelaide Vipers FC, Komasi will strengthen Adelaide Omonia Cobras. David is joining Croydon FC.
These transfers were made possible through the partnership with the Australian High Commission in Solomon Islands, as part of a four-year investment aimed at developing Pacific football talent.
Australia is supporting all the six footballers in everything they need to travel to Australia to join their host clubs.
