SIX students from a renowned boarding high school in the Western Province were expelled from the school this week after they were found consuming alcohol.
The students were sent home, much to the disappointment of the school administration and school family.
It is unclear whether they were drinking alcohol bought from the bottle shops or the famous illegally brewed one – kwaso.
Reports said the school family was sad after hearing about the incident as the students were just about to complete their academic year.
“This is not a good story for the students and their parents,” one of the staff said when dropping off the students at Gizo to make their way to their various home islands in the province.
The majority of the expelled students are girls.
The school is located just across Gizo Island and the students were dropped off by the school boat on Monday night to board MV Fair Glory.
The MV Fair Glory left Gizo on Tuesday morning and the students will disembark at their respective ports.
The school staff added, “It’s sad that the students never thought about their future, nor the money their parents spent to send them to school before getting themselves into such activity. It’s a sad situation for their families and the students themselves.”
In the past week, a number of students from the school were also suspended for sneaking out of the school campus.
