The Walande local organizing committee (POC) for the upcoming Small Malaita Mini Games has moved the registration closing date to 21 November 2016.
A statement from the organisers said this is to ensure that all logistical arrangements, draws and fixtures can be completed in time prior to the start of the Games with the Opening ceremony on 18 December 2016.
The registration fee is $500 per sport. The Walande LOC encourages all teams to submit registration fees before or on the due date as it will not accept late registration.
Preparations for the Games are progressing very well. So far theWalande Community has completed work on the soccer field and construction of a multipurpose facility which will accommodate the netball event has started.
This multipurpose facility has been made possible with support from the Australian High Commission through the Direct Aid Program.
The Walande LOC has also received timely support from the Solrais Company who has donated bags of rice towards the games.
Recent support has also been pledged by the Member of Parliament for Small Malaita Constituency Honourable RickHou.
“We are very happy with the progress of the preparations for the Mini games so far. We are also very appreciative of the support that the LOC has received thus far from the Australian High Commission, Solrais Company as well as from the Member of Parliament” said a spokesperson of the LOC.
The LOC is also appealing to other business houses who are interested to support this event to get in touch with them.
The Small Malaita Mini games is the biggest sporting event in the Small Malaita Constituency which happens every 2 years.
This year, the event will be staged in Walande Village from19 – 23 December 2016.
