THE Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea (PNG), His Excellency William Soaki hosted a small luncheon for a group of renowned Solomon Islands music artists on the 5th August 2024.
The event celebrated the participation of these artists at the Coke Studio Pasifika Tour, organized by Makasi Sounds & Entertainment.
The artists – Jah Boy, Jammin, Dehvande, Kayler, Cottsii and Joe Briz – put on two exciting shows for PNG audiences at two popular venues: Club 99 in Lae on 9th August and the Gold Club, Lamana hotel in Port Moresby on 10 August.
The tour has been hailed as a successful collaboration between the Solomon Islands and PNG musicians. Joining the Solomon Islands artists for this leg of the tour were three PNG well known musicians – Mereani Masani, Jnr Vigi and Tarvin Toune.
H.E High Commissioner Soaki commended the cross-cultural collaboration, highlighting the tour as a shining example of regional unity through music and culture.
“It is inspiring to see our artists working together, creating connections across the Pacific through their incredible talent,” he said during the luncheon.
The next leg of the Coke Studio Pasifika Tour will be held in Honiara later this year, marking another milestone in regional artistic exchange. Makasi Sounds & Entertainment continues to support Solomon Islands artists and has previously organized successful shows in PNG for Onetox, Small Jam, Solkis and members of the famed DMP.
The High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the artists for their contribution to the cultural connection between Solomon Islands and PNG and encouraged them to be great ambassadors for the country through music.
